This is Very Telling

The Key Arena (where the Seattle Supersonics play) couldn't hold all the people who wanted to see Barack Obama last time he visited Seattle. Hillary Clinton's rally wasn't as big, but it was free, as was Obama's. This was just before the Washington caucuses, but even that didn't force McCain to have a free event. He addressed a few people at the Westin hotel...for a fee. Now that McCain is the Republican nominee, he can comfortably go back to Republican elitist politics as usual. Tonight, he's in Bellevue (one block from my work, oy.) and here is what his website has to offer: (italics are mine)

"Tickets for a Photo Opportunity Reception are $10,000 per person or couple (Raise or Contribute). Tickets for a VIP Reception are $2,300 per person, and tickets for the Main Reception are $1,000 per person. Tickets for the Victory Dinner are $33,100 per person or couple. The photo opportunity reception begins at 5:00 p.m., and the VIP reception begins at 5:30 p.m.. The main reception begins at 6:00 p.m., and the victory dinner begins at 7:00 p.m."

The average annual income today for a male in his 30's is...$35,000.

Bill,
I think your old furnace may be a time machine.

Also: "This deconstruction of written sources seemingly undermines the historian's ability to know anything about the past. As the historian DAVID HARLAN bemoans: 'It has questioned our belief in a fixed and determinable past, compromised the possibility of historical representation, and undermined our ability to locate ourselves in time.'"

Dr. Harlan is and will always be my favorite history professor in spite of the fact I never got that promised letter of recommendation.
